Description
MALAWI – The flag, which was adopted in 1964, is a horizontal tribar made up of three equally sized stripes; black (top ? for the people of Africa), red (middle ? for the blood shed in struggles for independence), and green (bottom ? for lush vegetation). Resting center of the top black stripe is the image of a red rising half sun – representing the dawn of freedom and hope on the African continent.
